Tap on Take New Survey and you will see the list of surveys assigned to you by your survey administrator.

In order to start the interview for a particular survey you have to tap on that survey.After selecting the survey you will be prompted to choose the language. The default language for each survey is English.

Once the language is chosen, the system generates a default respondent id for the particular interview. You may note it down for your reference.Please hit the “START SURVEY” button to start the

Follow these steps to install the App

1. Download the APK in your Android device (Secure download link is provided)
2. Tap the .APK file to install
3. Follow the APK install process

Step 2: Give Permissions

The eRaay app will pop up the following permissions to continue.

1. Location – Needed to capture geo coordinates.
2. Audio/Microphone – Needed to record audio
3. Contacts – Make and manage phone calls
4. File Storage – Needed to access media and files on the device

Step 3: Login

Log in to the eRaay Collect app using the credentials provided by the administrator. Once the login credentials are validated, the app fetches the surveys details from eRaay server. The App loading time depends on the number of surveys the user has access to and the number of languages each survey has.

Please wait till you receive the message “Surveys Download completed!”.

eRaay Collect Offline, the offline data collection app enables users to gather information, such as survey responses, photos, GPS coordinates etc without an internet connection. Instead of transmitting data to a server in real time, this app stores it locally on the device and then syncs it to the main server once an internet connection is available.

How eRaay Collect Offline App Works

The process is straightforward:

1. Survey Creation: A user or administrator creates a digital survey using a web-based platform. This survey is made available to mobile devices and field users are given access to the survey.

2. Offline Data Capture: Field users login with the given user credentials and download the survey and any associated data onto their devices. They can then go to locations with poor or no connectivity to collect data. This app saves all responses, media, and other information directly onto the device’s local storage.
3. Sync Process: Once the field users have Wi-Fi or cellular connection, they can sync the stored data to the main server. This process is seamless, ensuring that no data is lost and that the central database is updated with the latest information.

Note: Please note that by default the offline feature is disabled when you create a survey. In case you need the offline version to be enabled for your survey, please contact us.

You can refer to the setting Allow transfer of interviews to Supervisor’s device under the Survey Administration > Settings > General Settings tab for more clarification.

In this part of the settings, you can schedule your data download activity. Here are the settings:

1. Schedule the time of the data export
2. Choose the download format
3. Set the FTP settings where the data will be transmitted. Please note that you need to provide
   a valid FTP connection for this activity
4. Provide an email id where the downloaded data can be sent.

In this part of the exercise, you can put an alert to get notified when a data is downloaded. You can also specify in which country the survey will be accessible.

eRaay has default error/validation messages that appear while the data is captured. However, you can override them by providing your own message. Please note that for language specific error messages you have to change in the Manage Language section.

Display survey name on top of question

By default, this option is enabled and you see the Survey name on top of the survey page. When this option is set to false, the Survey name does not appear on top of the survey page.

Show question number along with question description

By default, this option is enabled where the question number is shown before the question description. When this option is turned off, the question number is not printed.

Display mandatory message for mandatory questions

By default the mandatory message is displayed underneath the question text in red colour. When this option is turned off, the message is not displayed.

Prompt on survey terminate

If this setting is set to No then there will be no prompt on termination. It is set to “No” by default. It is used in case of redirects.

Set data completion column

This column drives the complete count in the client dashboard

Client Dashboard Banner Message

This message will be displayed in the client dashboard when the survey is accessed.

Allow data edit in client dashboard

If this setting is set to “Yes” then the client has access to update the collected data. It is set to “No” by default.

Custom Survey URL

Please enter the complete URL without parameters if the survey is hosted in a dedicated link.

Allow Offline Data Collection (CAPI)

Offline Data collection is enabled only if this setting is set to “Yes”

Offline APP Version (Android)

The APK version is used to match with the appropriate version of the offline eRaay App. This value ensures that the user is working on the correct version.

Maximum Data Sync Interviews at one time (For CAPI Studies)

This numeric value decides the maximum number of offline interviews that can be synced together in one go.

Allow full audio recording (For CAPI Studies)

Full audio recording is enabled only if this setting is set to “Yes”
Select starting question: Select the question number where you would like the full audio recording to start.
Select ending question: Select the question number where you would like the full audio recording to end. The ending question should come after the starting question.

Allow data edit in device for CAPI study

If this setting is set to “Yes” then the offline user has access to update the submitted interview in the device before syncing it . It is set to “No” by default.

Allow transfer of interviews to Supervisor’s device

This setting allows the offline users to transfer their “Ready to Submit” interviews to the supervisor.

By default this setting is set to “No”. Transfer Process is available to the Field users when this setting is set to “Yes”
